Available Expert - Queen's University experts comment on the legalization of cannabis

Tuesday, October 16, 2018

Queen’s University experts John-Kurt Pliniussen (Business) and Oyedeji Ayonrinde (Psychiatry) are available to comment on the legalization of recreation cannabis which is set to take place tomorrow.  Dr. Pliniussen can comment on the business side of the legalization while Dr. Ayonrinde is an expert on the medical side.

“Cannabis legalization is finally upon us,” says Dr. Ayonrinde. “While this may not change much for some current cannabis users, there will be some people on the verge of starting their cannabis experience.  For a number of young people in education or work, this may be a turning point in their lives. Cannabis literacy is key to consumption as well as an awareness of potential harms. For the inexperienced user, the message is ‘start low and go slow’.”

“Puff, chew ‘n chill! Here comes the cannabis marketing tsunami. So much excitement, momentum, confusion and health dangers,” says Dr. Pliniussen.
