    Available Expert - Roe v Wade: What comes next?

    On June 24, the US supreme court overruled its nearly 50-year-old precedent of Roe v Wade, the 1973 case that legalized abortion in America. The following Queen’s University experts are available to speak to media about the impact the decision will have across America, and in Canada.
     
    Nick Bala (Law)- Prof. Bala is an expert in Family Law and Constitutional issues. He can speak to how the decision raises fundamental issues about a Canada-US legal comparison.
     
    Kathleen Lahey (Law)- Prof. Lahey is a gender equity expert. She can speak to the impact on women south of the Canadian border. She can also speak to women in Canada who may have been relying on clinics in the US that are easier to reach—and what it means for abortion access in Canada.
     
    Paul Gardner (History)- Dr. Gardner is an expert in politics and law. He can speak to Supreme Court procedure.
     
    Ashley Waddington (Obstetrics and Gynaecology)- Dr. Waddington is an expert on contraception and abortion care and access within Canada. She can speak to the legal context in which abortion care takes place in Canada.
     
    Romy Nitsch (Medicine) Dr. Nitsch is an obstetrician gynecologist with a background in bioethics. She also runs the second year Genitourinary Reproduction course for medical students. She is an expert on abortion, rights and ethics.
