Available Expert - Senate passes marijuana legalization bill

Wednesday, June 20, 2018

Queen’s University expert Art Cockfield is available to comment on Bill C-45 officially passing the Senate vote. This paves the way for the bill to pass into Canadian law. The Senate voted 52-29 to approve the government’s newest version of the bill.

Bill C-45 now moves to royal assent, the final step in the legislative process. That could occur within days at the government’s discretion.

“I support the new laws and the fact that Trudeau ensured all provinces have same basic approach, including consistent home growing rules,” says Professor Cockfield.
