AVAILABLE EXPERT - Tensions flair between Saudi Arabia and Iran

Monday, January 4, 2016

Queen’s University expert on the Middle East Houchang Hassan-Yari is available to comment on Saudi Arabia’s allies cutting ties with Iran after protestors attacked Saudi diplomatic posts. The violence was sparked by the Saudi execution of an opposition Shiite cleric.

“Escalating crisis between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia risks to plunge further the Middle East in chaos and instability,” says Dr. Hassan-Yari. “It impacts the insecurity in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen. It can also create a breathing space for ISIS and Al-Qaeda in the region and further the Shia-Sunni divide.”

Please note, Dr. Hassan-Yari (who speaks French, English and Farsi) wants to be identified in the media as an expert on the Middle East from Queen’s University and Royal Military College.
