Available Expert - Trump signs executive order on Keystone XL

Tuesday, January 24, 2017

Queen's University energy policy expert Warren Mabee is available to comment on news that President Trump is set to sign an executive order to advance the Keystone XL pipeline - a controversial proposed 1,897-kilometre crude oil pipeline, which would transport up to 830,000 barrels a day of Alberta bitumen into the United States for processing. The project has received strong opposition from environmental groups.

"‘What happens to Canada if Keystone XL gets built? There will certainly be impacts on trade, but also questions about other pipelines currently under development," says Dr. Mabee.

Dr. Mabee is the head of the Department of Geography and Planning at Queen's University. He is also the associate director of the Queen’s Institute for Energy and Environmental Policy, the acting director of Queen’s Sustainable Bioeconomy Centre, and the Canada Research Chair in Renewable Energy Development. He is available after 12:30 pm on January 24, 2017.
