Available Expert - Twenty-eight people die in attack on Christians in Egypt

Friday, May 26, 2017

Queen’s University terrorism expert Wagdy Loza is available to comment on masked gunmen killing at least 28 people in an attack on Christians in Egypt. Militants riding in three SUVs opened fire Friday on a bus packed with Coptic Christians, including children. The attack comes at the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

“Today is a sad ascension feast for the Christian Copts in Egypt,” says Dr. Loza. “Last month it was a sad Easter for Copts all over the world. The fresh new wave of terrorism in Europe and other parts of the world is continuing unabated. Until those responsible for security thoroughly understand and counter the terrorist related ideologies used by these groups, terrorism-related ideologies will continue to propagate and, consequently, so will the occurrences of terrorist acts.”
