    AVAILABLE EXPERTS: Christmas 2014

    Tuesday, December 9, 2014

Marketing expert Tandy Thomas is able to comment on holiday-specific marketing techniques and how some companies and brands become embedded in the holiday experience.

“Embedded in our holiday celebrations with friends and families are several brands and companies that have become entwined with the holiday experience,” says Dr. Thomas. “Some companies, like Coke, have provided us with iconic images of Santa, while other companies have special holiday offerings that have become entwined with consumer’s views of the season. Starbuck’s and their red cups is one such example. Still, other companies have built hugely popular rituals around their products, with the Elf on the Shelf craze being a notable example. In short, what we have is a festive season that is just as much about brands and marketing as it is about celebrating the holidays.”

Also available – John Young (School of Religion) is available for comment about the history of Christmas, and other religious holidays which occur at this time of year.
