She has been designing an online platform for delivering online psychotherapy. She is a pioneer of online CBT in Canada, with more than 12 years of research experience in delivering online psychotherapy. She is the author of the first handbook on delivering online CBT published by Springer-Nature. She has demonstrated tremendous innovation that has enhanced the care provided to patients. She has improved patients’ access to cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) through an online CBT clinic . This clinic offers targeted therapy for specific needs such as, depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, managing chronic pain and coping with cancer and grief and has expanded access to this care for patients in remote areas, where resources have been limited. Dr. Alavi has also been instrumental in working with the emergency department to develop streamlined protocols to provide consistency in care, as well as a rapid therapy program to offer short-term supportive therapy for patients in crisis.
