Media Advisory - Homecoming events kick off Friday at Queen's University

KINGSTON – Since 1926, Queen’s University has welcomed alumni from around the world to return to celebrate their reunion at Queen’s Homecoming Weekend. More than 100 classes and groups are reuniting and taking part in over 50 events planned by staff, faculty, students, and volunteers.

Homecoming 2018 kicks off Friday, October 19 with a meet and greet at Grant Hall, 43 University Avenue. Representatives from Queen’s Archives, student clubs, Athletics and Recreation, Queen’s Bands, and more will be on hand to welcome alumni home.


Available to speak with the media about the many alumni activities taking place is Sarah Indewey, Associate Director, Alumni & Volunteer Relations, Office of Advancement. She will be available to the media starting at 1 pm at Grant Hall on Friday, October 19.


A number of Homecoming 2018 events are open to the media. Journalists are asked to confirm their attendance:


Friday, October 19

Engineers Without Borders Pumpkin Smash, Agnes Benidickson Field, 2:30 pm

Homecoming Meet and Greet, Grant Hall, 1 to 6 pm. This is an opportunity to speak with some of the returning alumni.

Queen’s Band performance for the returning alumni, Grant Hall – 4 pm


Saturday, October 20

Spirit Corner, Grant Hall, 9:30 to 11:30 am. The Queen’s Alumni Association is hosting the spirit event to pump everyone up before the football game.

Queen’s Band alumni parade to Richardson Stadium, Grant Hall, 11:30 am.
