Media Advisory - Homecoming events kick of Friday at Queen's University

KINGSTON – Since 1926, Queen’s Homecoming has been an opportunity for alumni to reconnect in Kingston to engage with students, staff, faculty, and friends.  This year, more than 3,000 alumni from close to 100 classes and groups are reuniting to take part in more than 50 official Queen’s events.

Homecoming 2019 kicks off Friday, Oct. 18 with a meet and greet at Grant Hall at 43 University Ave. Representatives from Queen’s Archives, student clubs, Athletics and Recreation, Queen’s Bands, and others will be on hand to welcome alumni home.


Available to speak with the media about the many alumni activities taking place is Karen Bertrand, Artsci’94, Vice-Principal of the Office of Advancement. She will be available to the media at noon at Grant Hall on Saturday, Oct. 19.


A number of Homecoming 2019 events are open to the media. Journalists are asked to confirm their attendance:

Friday, Oct. 18

  • 2:30 p.m.: Engineers Without Borders Pumpkin Smash, Agnes Benidickson Field.
  • 1-4 p.m.: Queen’s Band performance for the returning alumni, Grant Hall.
  • 1-6 p.m.: Homecoming Meet and Greet, Grant Hall. This is an opportunity to speak with some of the returning alumni.

Saturday, Oct. 20

  • 9:30-11:30 a.m.: Spirit Corner, Grant Hall. The Queen’s University Alumni Association is hosting the spirit event to pump everyone up before the football game.
  • 1:30 p.m.: Queen’s Band alumni parade to Richardson Stadium, Grant Hall.
