KINGSTON – Queen’s University Principal Daniel Woolf and representatives from the local Indigenous community are unveiling a commemorative plinth to honour the Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee, upon whose traditional lands Queen’s was built.
The plinth will be the first in a series as part of “Queen’s Remembers” – an initiative designed to commemorate those who have made significant and noteworthy contributions to the history of Queen’s University. Over the coming months, additional commemorative plinths will be unveiled across campus to remember and recognize these groups.
When/Who
The unveiling ceremony will begin on Monday, Oct. 16, 2017 at 2 p.m. Principal Woolf and Kanonhsyonne (Janice Hill), Director of Indigenous Initiatives, will be available immediately after the ceremony for interviews.
Where
The plinth unveiling will take place on McGibbon Walk, between Douglas Library and Ontario Hall. (Map)
