Thursday, September 3, 2020

KINGSTON – After weeks of detailed health and safety planning, Queen’s is set to launch its phased reopening of the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC) as well as more outdoor facilities, beginning on Sept. 8. Its reopening is part of the university’s broader return-to-campus planning efforts that are focused on ensuring enhanced health and safety protocols are in place at all times to protect the Queen’s community from COVID-19.

The ARC has been reconfigured to ensure physical distancing, to create individual activity spaces, and to put in place a new on-line reservation system for equipment, spaces, and programs. It will also operate at half its typical capacity, with students being the first to gain access followed by existing members a week later.

The media is invited to a pre-opening walk-though of the ARC, during which many of these safety adaptations will be showcased.

Leslie Dal CinExecutive Director, Queen's University Athletics & Recreation, will lead the tour.

Q-Services team members Jessie Chen and Taylor Brand will join the tour as well.

The tour starts
on Friday, Sept. 4 at 1 pm at the revamped entrance to the Athletic and Recreation Centre (ARC) on Earl Street. Members of the media are required to wear masksrespect all physical distancing guidelines, and confirm their attendance in advance.
