Media Advisory - Queen’s to welcome all first-year students to Kingston this Saturday, September 3 for residence Move-In Day

As Queen’s University gets ready to welcome many first-year students into 17 residence buildings across campus on September 3, it invites media to see Move-In Day first-hand. This is the first time university residences will be operating at full capacity since the COVID-19 pandemic was declared.  

In collaboration with the community and municipal partners including the City of Kingston, Kingston Transit, Kingston Police, Kingston Accommodation Partners, and the Downtown Business Improvement Association, Queen’s has been planning to safely welcome students and their families to campus, and to ensure a smooth process for everyone.   

What: Media is invited to attend Queen’s Move-In Day for first-year students

When: Saturday, September 3, 10:00 -10:30am

Where:  Victoria Hall

Who:  Available to speak to the media are:

  • Ann Tierney, Vice-Provost and Dean of Student Affairs
  • Emily Yeung, President and CEO, The Residence Society, Queen’s University

Many of the parking lots and roads have traffic restrictions in place. Media are advised to park in one of the following locations:

  • The lot between Victoria Hall and Watson Hall (enter off Bader Lane)
  • The lot in front of the University Club (off Stuart St).
  • The lot behind the Stauffer library

Note: To respect the privacy of all students, media are not permitted inside the residence buildings themselves.
