Media Advisory - Queen's University hosts NSERC Canadian Robotics Network annual meeting and field trials

Friday, May 31, 2019

KINGSTON – Funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, the NSERC Canadian Robotics Network (NCRN) is Canada’s only robotics research funding organization. It spans eight universities, nine industrial partners, three government agencies and five international partners. This year, a team of Canadian robotics researchers will gather in Kingston to field test a variety of unique robots.

As part of the conference, NCRN is hosting a media day when researchers from all over the country will demonstrate their robots. Ground, air, water, and indoor robots will be on display and researchers will be available for interviews.

The Queen’s host for the event is Joshua Marshall, Interim Director at the Ingenuity Labs Research Institute located in Mitchell Hall. Dr. Marshall was instrumental in creating the Offroad Robotics laboratory and lead the development of the Ingenuity Labs.  The NCRN is currently lead by Dr. Inna Sharf, Acting Scientific Director, who hails from McGill University.

The media day is being held Tuesday, June 4 starting at 10 am in Mitchell Hall. The media are welcome to visit various sites around campus to view a variety of robotic demonstrations.

The media is asked to confirm their attendance.
