Media Advisory - Queen's University public lecture gives a voice to children in the sexual education debate

KINGSTON – Your Body. Whose Rules? is a public lecture hosted by Queen’s University that explores the hotly-debated Ontario Health and Physical Education curriculum through the lens of children’s rights.

The Your Body. Whose Rules? presentation focuses on the rights of youth to determine their path forward in regards to sex-ed.


The keynote speech will be given by Rebecca Bromwich, Program Director of the Graduate Diploma in Conflict Resolution in the Department of Law and Legal Studies at Carleton University.

Responses to the keynote will be given by School of Religion Professor Pamela Dickey Young and Department of Public Health Sciences Professor Colleen Davison.

The presenters recently published an op-ed in The Conversation regarding the sex-ed debate.


The event gets underway on Wednesday, October 3 at 7 pm in the Ellis Hall auditorium. The media opportunity starts at 6:30 pm in the lobby of Ellis Hall and the media are invited to attend the formal event. Local youth attending the event may be made available to the press.
