Media Advisory - Queen's University safely welcomes first -year students to residence

Tuesday, August 31, 2021

Queen’s University is inviting media to observe the first day of move-in for all first-year students. For the second year in a row, the move-in period is spread over several days, with health and safety measures in place to protect the community.  This year, move-in will take place over four days, beginning September first and ending September 4.

Although the overwhelming majority of residence students have indicated they are fully vaccinated, students and family members who are not fully vaccinated can receive a dose of a COVID-19 vaccine when they arrive on campus at a conveniently located walk in vaccine clinic at Richardson Stadium. The vaccine will be held throughout the move-in period from 8:00am to 4:00pm.

Ann Tierney, Vice-Provost and Dean of Student Affairs, and Oliver Flis, a residence don, will be available to provide details and answer questions. Dr. Elaine Ma and her team are also available to speak to media about the vaccination clinic.

When: Wednesday, September 1, Noon-2pm

Where:  Richardson Stadium and Victoria Hall

Please email Julie Brown or Victoria Klassen to RSVP. Before arriving on campus, all individuals participating in move-in (including media) must download the Queen’s SeQure App and complete a short COVID-19 self-assessment.
