Media Advisory - Smith School of Business students partner with the YMCA and give back to the local community

Thursday, June 9, 2022

Students enrolled in the EMBA at Smith School of Business at Queen's are once again donating their time to support active living for youth in the Kingston community.

During a recent two-week in-class session, close to 80  Smith EMBA students worked in teams to assemble 28 brand new bicycles as part of a health and wellness program at Smith called Fit to Lead.  The YMCA of Eastern Ontario has identified a child for each bike and the bicycles have each had a safety check at Frontenac Cycle to ensure they are ready for the road.

This is the second time Smith EMBA students have collaborated with the YMCA on this initiative. The program started in 2019 and was met with great success by Smith EMBA students and the YMCA community. The program was placed on hiatus in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
