KINGSTON- An important place of ceremony, learning and reflection is set to be unveiled on the Queen’s campus. The Outdoor Indigenous gathering space is inspired by traditional Anishinaabe wigwams and is a welcome addition to the campus reflecting the value of Indigenous histories and perspectives. The space creates an area for ceremonial fires, as well as for teaching, learning, and engaging with Indigenous ways of knowing and being.
The new gathering space is one of a number of Indigenous spaces across campus, and is part of our ongoing commitment to advancing decolonization and reconciliation while building an inclusive campus where all Queen’s community members feel seen, safe, and welcome.
