MEDIA AVAILABILITY: Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament available for interviews this afternoon

Friday, January 9, 2015

Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament and Distinguished Visitor to Queen's University, the Rt. Hon. Tricia Marwick MSP, is available for media interviews this afternoon during her visit to Queen's campus.

The Presiding Officer will speak on campus on Friday in a conversation about “Young Women in Politics.” PO Marwick will then give the Principal’s Distinguished Visitor Lecture at the Principal’s Forum on Saturday on “Scotland’s Constitutional Journey.” PO Marwick's visit coincides with Sir John A. Macdonald's bicentennial this weekend.

PO Marwick will have media availability on Friday afternoon from 1:15 pm to 2 pm. She is the first woman to hold the post of Presiding Officer and, due to the nature of her position, is a nonpartisan member of the Scottish Parliament.

For more information on PO Marwick’s speaking engagements, please see the Queen’s University media advisory.

To arrange an interview, please contact communications officer Rosie Hales at 613-533-6000 ext. 77513 or rosie.hales@queensu.ca at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont., Canada.
