News Release - A new era in education as Queen’s Launches only English language program for licensed immigration consultants in Canada

Thursday, June 11, 2020

(June 2020) The Queen’s University Faculty of Law today announced the launch of its Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law. As of August 1, 2020, this online program will be Canada's only English-language pathway for students training to become Regulated Immigration Consultants.  The program’s first course offerings are due to go online for its first cohort of students in January 2021.

The program, consisting of nine courses offered across two terms of full-time study, has been developed over a year of consultation with regulated immigration consultants, immigration and citizenship experts, and immigration lawyers. The Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law is the third Queen’s Faculty of Law program to launch online in the last four years.

“We have developed a program that blends competency training with academics, to prepare the next generation of Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants with both the knowledge and professional skills they need to thrive.”

-Sharry Aiken, Academic Director of program and professor at Queen’s Law and expert on immigration and refugee law
