News Release - Student trustee steps down

Wednesday, February 5, 2020

KINGSTON – Tyler Macintyre, a student trustee on the Queen’s Board of Trustees, today announced his resignation in the wake of concerns raised following his attendance at a coronavirus-themed event on February 1, 2020.

In his resignation, Macintyre expressed understanding and remorse for his actions.

Queen’s remains committed to creating an inclusive environment where all members of our community feel welcome and supported, and the university continues to make efforts to swiftly address behaviour that is damaging to our students, staff and faculty.

Principal and Vice-Chancellor Patrick Deane released a public statement on Monday, calling for the campus community to come together and care for one another, with dignity and respect.

Macintyre’s resignation takes effect immediately.
