News Release - Ford partners with Lyft to deploy self-driving cars

Wednesday, September 27, 2017

Queen’s University business expert John-Kurt Pliniussen is available to comment on Ford Motors’ new partnership with transportation network Lyft to deploy autonomous vehicles.

The self-driving tsunami is around the corner. It will transform how we use, pay for, and insure vehicles,” says Dr. Pliniussen. “Ford is just announcing its partnership with Lyft but it is already behind eight other auto and truck partnerships that have been announced.”

“With self-driving systems using names like Drive Pilot, Traffic Jam Alert, and AutoPilot we are only a very short time away from when all new cars and trucks will have more than the stop and go radar cruise, lane centering, park assist features we see today,” says Pliniussen. “They will also be able to make their own decisions as to how best to deal with traffic and directional choices.”

Dr. Pliniussen is available before 12:00 p.m. EST.
