Adjustments made to student ancillary fees

In May 2020, the Queen’s Board of Trustees approved 2020-2021 ancillary fees subject to a review by the university, the AMS and SGPS, to determine if any adjustments would be required in the context of the ongoing pandemic. Any adjustments would result in the reduction of the amount of a fee, not an increase. This review took place, and initial adjustments were made.

It was determined some fees would require further evaluation, given the fluidity of the provincial and local public health context, and uncertainties relating to the anticipated impacts on campus operations.  As a result, the university, the AMS and the SGPS is re-assessing mandatory fee amounts at two additional points in the upcoming year:

  • mid-September, 2020, before fall term payments are due on Sept. 30, 2020, and
  • mid-January 2021, before winter term payments are due on Jan. 31, 2021.

This is allowing the university, the AMS and/or the SGPS to make any additional adjustments (reductions) based on public health information and anticipated service levels. Any credits will be applied to student SOLUS accounts if payment has already been received.

The September assessment has been completed, and some additional adjustments (reductions) have now been made by the university, the AMS and the SGPS.
