Brief water service interruptions for a number of buildings April 3-4

Brief water service interruptions are scheduled for a number of buildings this week to permit Physical Plant Services, working with the support of Utilities Kingston, to review water connections related to ongoing projects.

The interruptions are scheduled as follows:

  •          Wednesday, April 3 between 6:30 am and 8 am – Douglas Library, Fleming Hall (Jemmett Wing and Stewart-Pollock Wing) and Ontario Hall
  •          Thursday, April 4 between 6:30 am and 8 am –  Humphrey Hall/Craine Building, Jackson Hall, Kathleen Ryan Hall,  Miller Hall/Bruce Wing and Old Medical Building

During each shutdown period, there will not be domestic hot or cold water available for hand washing, flushing toilets, eyewash stations, safety shower, lab or kitchen use in each of the affected buildings.

Note: There may be discolouration or air in your water when a tap is first opened following the service interruption. This is quite normal and is an aesthetic problem only; it does not present a safety concern. Run your water for several minutes before using it and the problem should quickly remedy itself. It is best to perform this initial flushing at a tap that is not equipped with a mesh strainer in order to avoid a possible fouling of the strainer.
