Faculty, staff, students invited to share expertise or informed perspective about advancing a health-promoting campus.
Queen’s recently launched the Campus Wellness Project, an integrated, holistic, initiative aimed at encouraging and supporting a culture of wellbeing for Queen’s students, staff, and faculty. One of the ways campus community members can participate in the project is by joining the Campus Wellness Council. This council is being formed to leverage the breadth and depth of campus-wide experience, expertise and perspectives related to advancing a health-promoting university community.
The Campus Wellness Council, to be co-chaired by Jennifer Dods, Executive Director, Student Wellness Services, and Sydney Downey, Manager, Return to Work & Accommodation Services, Human Resources, is currently recruiting members.
“If you are a member of the Queen’s community who is actively involved in health and wellness research, education, professional activities or if you have a unique perspective or experience related to campus health and wellness, we would welcome your engagement with the Campus Wellness Council,” says Jennifer Dods. “Members will be expected to complete weekly online surveys and attend two meetings in the winter term.”
Campus Wellness Committee members will:
- Provide input based on areas of expertise and interest
- Review, elaborate, clarify and synthesize information from consultation summaries
- Prepare material to present to the Provost’s Advisory Committee on Wellness
“We are interested in accessing the wealth of health and wellness related knowledge and experience in the Queen’s community to assist in developing a whole-system, transformative, integrated framework, that ultimately benefits students, staff and faculty”, says Sydney Downey.
Queen’s community members interested in participating in the Campus Wellness Council are asked to express their interest online by Friday, Dec. 14.
