Campus Electricity Demand Reduction Notification: July 5

In order to reduce electricity costs and contribute to the sustainability of the province’s energy system, Queen's University is once again participating in an electricity peak demand reduction program.

High heat today (Thursday, July 5) will be displaced by a cold front moving across the province, which is expected to reach the Greater Toronto Area by early afternoon. As such, the university's Electricity Demand Reduction activities will begin earlier today than normal. Today will be the hottest and highest electricity demand day in the last two years.

Attached is a notification bulletin detailing the buildings that will be affected by the reduction today as well as a forecast through July 8. A separate notice will be issued tomorrow morning to either confirm or cancel the reduction for July 6.
