Campus Electricity Demand Reduction Update for Thursday, July 30th

Campus Electricity Demand Reduction Update for Thursday, July 30th

Over the past three days, our demand reduction responses combined with co-generation activities have enabled the university to catch the top three demand peaks of the year so far. If these peaks remain in the top five, which is very likely, we will save roughly over $1,000,000 in electricity costs (based on last year’s numbers). Your continued support of this program is making a difference for the campus!

As warm temperatures and humidity persist across the province, today will be out 10th Electricity Demand Response Day of the summer. Please consult the attached newsletter for a complete list of buildings that will be participating in today’s response.

Note: The potential Electricity Demand Response for Friday, July 31st has been cancelled.

If you are interested in helping with the response, please turn off non-essential lighting during the day and shutdown your computers and other non-essential equipment before you leave at the end of each day.

More information about the electricity peak demand management program is available on the sustainability website. Those with questions may also contact Fixit at extension 77301 (internal), 613-533-6757 (external) or by e-mail.
