As of December 1, the Queen’s park and ride shuttle will operate only between the hours of 6:25-9 am, and 2:45-6 pm, Monday to Friday. The new detailed schedule is available here.
Over the past year and half, the shuttle service has seen its ridership decrease by more than 30 per cent, as permit holders have moved to other parking and transportation options, such as the new express bus service offered by Kingston Transit and the discounted monthly Transpass now available to Queen’s and Kingston General Hospital employees. This has made the shuttle financially unsustainable at the current operating schedule.
Since the vast majority of shuttle users are KGH employees, Queen’s worked closely with the hospital in examining various options for the service, including discontinuing the shuttle or significantly increasing permit rates. However, the university knows that the shuttle service is valued by its riders and wants to continue to offer the service in a financially viable and affordable way.
While these schedule changes ensure that the shuttle service remains available during peak periods, we recognize that some individuals will be affected.
