Technicians from Kone Elevator will begin testing the traction elevators located in the Queen's Centre (EL1901, EL1902, EL1903, & EL1904) and School of Kinesiology and Health Studies (EL1911) on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
This new maintenance testing is mandated safety code for elevators and escalators. The technicians will only remove one elevator from service at a time in the Queen’s Centre, so there will be a minimal impact to occupants and visitors. Testing will begin with the elevator on Student Life Centre side of the facility that goes to the underground parking garage (EL1904) on Wednesday, Jan. 7 from approximately 8 am until 4 pm. Access to the garage will be available via elevator EL1902 located in the Athletics and Recreation Centre. A separate notice will be issued when testing has been completed for all four elevators in the Queen’s Centre.
The elevator located in the School of Kinesiology and Health Studies (EL1911) will be out of service on Friday, Jan. 9 from 7 am until 3 pm for testing.
