Event Notice: The Glorious Sons concert on Sept. 21

On Saturday, Sept. 21, Richardson Stadium will be the venue for a concert by The Glorious Sons, an internationally-successful band originating from Kingston. The concert promoters, Anschutz Entertainment Group, applied to the City of Kingston for a noise bylaw exemption for this concert, which was approved by City Council in June.

This is a unique community event, and we understand that it will have an impact on the surrounding community. We wanted to provide you with information on what to expect on Saturday.

Approximately 15,000 people are expected to attend the concert, and Queen’s has been working very closely with the concert organizers, Kingston Police, Kingston Fire & Rescue, and other community partners to plan for this event. Sound checks are expected to begin at Richardson Stadium on Saturday at 11 am. Gates will open to event attendees at 4:30 pm, and the concert is expected to take place from 6:15-11 pm.

An increase in traffic in the local area can be expected. The concert promoters and Queen’s have undertaken extensive coordination with Kingston Police, bylaw enforcement staff, as well as emergency services in planning the event. A parking plan has been developed to help reduce traffic and parking congestion. All of Queen’s parking lots will be made available for event attendees, as well as parking lots at other locations. Shuttle services will be made available to transport attendees from parking lots to Richardson Stadium. Taxi and Uber services have also been involved in planning for this event.

Neighbouring residents received extra notification regarding the concert on Friday.
