HR to host learning cafe for non-unionized employees

The Human Resources Department is inviting non-unionized employees to participate in a learning café on Nov. 26.

“This session will build on the great participation and input we received at the focus groups held in the spring and the town hall sessions in July and October,” says Al Orth, Associate Vice-Principal (Human Resources). “The Human Resources Department is committed to moving forward on implementing a new structure that connects the administration directly with non-unionized employees at Queen’s.”

An important part of building that connection will involve the development of a strategy for communicating with employees. The upcoming learning café will allow non-unionized employees to contribute to that process in a collaborative, active and constructive manner.

The participants will work in small groups to discuss a specific question. They will then build on each other’s ideas by moving around to different tables, contributing to the previous table’s ideas and comments. The café will close with a plan for actionable next steps.

The session will take place on Nov. 26 from 2-3:30 pm at Robert Sutherland Hall, Room 145. Refreshments will be served.

Because space is limited, the Human Resources Department asks that employees who wish to participate sign-up in advance by emailing Gillian Shields, Labour Relations Co-ordinator.
