Interior renovations at the former St. Mary’s of the Lake site

Work is scheduled to begin in early April on some interior renovations to the former St. Mary’s of the Lake hospital.

The project is being done to facilitate the planned relocation of some administrative functions from Queen’s main campus to the former hospital, and is not part of the COVID-19 response by the university or local health agencies.

The work will begin with some interior demolition work with material being sorted for recycling on site and the placing and removal of waste bins. There will also be some equipment on site doing geotechnical investigation involving soil drilling for the planned geothermal system that will be installed on the south of the existing buildings facing King Street.

The interior demolition work is expected to take place during normal working hours and to be completed by late June. Any noise generated is expected to be minimal and within city bylaw limits. Area residents may notice some additional traffic in the area as this work takes place.
