Queen’s Centre electrical panel HDP-EE-CC to be shut down overnight Thursday

Physical Plant Services will be supporting Toban Electric with a shutdown of electrical panel HDP-EE-CC in the Queen’s Centre beginning on Thursday, Aug. 16 at 9 pm and extending until Friday, Aug. 17 at 6 am. This shutdown is required to install electrical services to the new chiller serving Mitchell Hall (Innovation and Wellness Centre).

The following services will be affected by this planned shutdown:

  • Most of the ventilation in the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC) portion of the Queen’s Centre.
  • All cooling within the entirety of the Queen’s Centre and School of Kinesiology and Health Studies.
  • Majority of lighting and receptacles in the ARC penthouse.
  • Normal power for the automatic transfer switch. (The transfer switch will automatically switch to emergency power which in this set up still means it is on normal power; however, there will still be a blip for these loads.)

There are no fire safety implications arising out of this planned work.
