    Roadwork construction update

    • Please be advised that Taggart Construction will be paving on Stuart Street at the George Street intersection tomorrow, Thursday, October 2. As a result Stuart Street will be down to one-lane during the work.

    • Work on the storm sewer and water main has been completed in the intersection of George Street and King Street West on Monday evening. King Street West is now re-opened to through traffic and crews are continuing to work on the storm sewer and water main on George Street between King Street West and O’Kill Street.
    • Although King Street West is now re-opened, in the future there will be some times when King Street West is reduced to a single-lane in order to complete water main testing and paving.
    • The latest schedule from the contractor projects that the block of George Street between King Street West and O’Kill Street will have excavation complete by mid-October. Beginning in early October crews will begin to restore the surface (pouring of curbs and sidewalks, road-base building) on George Street, starting at King Street West progressing behind the excavation.
    • Excavation of the sanitary sewer lateral in the park at the foot of George Street has been completed. Crews will continue to work to restore the surface area of the park.
    • Excavation is predicted to move more speedily through this phase as there is less rock-breaking to be completed. This will also hopefully lead to reduced noise and vibration throughout the construction site.
