    Roadwork construction update

    • Storm and water main excavation continues on George Street, nearing the intersection of George and Stuart Street. It is expected that excavation work will enter the intersection of George and Stuart Street early next week.
    • Stuart Street is scheduled to be closed to through traffic between Lower University Avenue and Arch Street starting Tuesday, November 4 until Friday, November 7 at the earliest. All buildings on Stuart Street will remain accessible to local vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Signage will be placed at the end of Stuart Street to indicate this to vehicles, and staff from the contractor will be present during work hours to help direct traffic and pedestrians.
    • The Queen's Shuttle route will change from November 4 to 7 when the roadwork construction project moves into the intersection of Stuart Street and George Street. Stops 1 and 2 will not be affected but Stops 3 and 4 will be eliminated during this period only. The shuttle will turn right on Lower University Avenue and travel back to West Campus via King Street. Questions about the Queen's Shuttle route change should be directed to Donna Stover, parking manager, at extension 77589.
    • Buses will be unable to access stops on Stuart Street between Lower University Avenue and Barrie Street in both directions. This includes the Queen's University/Kingston General Hospital Express stop.  In addition, Route 2 buses will not serve stops on University Ave. Visit the City of Kingston’s website for more detailed transit information.
    • Sidewalk forming and pouring continues in the lower block of George Street.
    • Restoration work in the park at the foot of George Street continues, with all restoration work to be completed by Wednesday, November 5.
    • A full day water shutdown (eight hours) will be impacting buildings on Stuart Street between Lower University Avenue and Arch Street sometime during the week of November 10 or 17 to accommodate the connection of the new George Street water main. Utilities Kingston and contractor staff have been in touch with the appropriate contacts at Kingston General Hospital and Queen’s University regarding this topic and more details with regards to timing will be available in the coming days.
