Roadwork construction update

  • Work to install the new sanitary and water mains has been completed on George Street and the intersection of Stuart Street and George Street has been re-opened to through traffic.
  • Crews will need to return to the intersection of Stuart and George Street early the week of November 24th to connect the new water main to the existing water main. This will result in a temporary closure of the intersection of Stuart and George Street. More details on this work will be available in next week’s update.
  • Crews are currently focused on reconnecting individual buildings to the new permanent water main. Please be advised that due to the construction project on George Street there will be two days of temporary water shut downs this week. On Wednesday, November 19 from 9 am until noon water service to the Queen’s Louise D. Acton Building and the Cancer Research Institute will be shut down.
  • Crews are continuing to work on sidewalk pouring and road building efforts. George Street will be paved to base levels of asphalt before the end of construction this year, including the intersections of George Street at King Street West and Stuart Street.
