    Roadwork construction update: June 22-26

A summary of roadwork activities for the week of June 22.

    • Due to unforeseen circumstances, crews will be temporarily leaving excavation work on Stuart Street between George Street and Arch Street to begin excavation work on the portion of Stuart Street between George Street and Lower University Avenue, beginning at George Street. This change will come into effect on Monday June 22.
    • As a result of the change of location for excavation work, access to George Street will be changed effective June 22. George Street will no longer be accessible from Stuart Street eastbound, but will be accessible from Stuart Street westbound, via either Arch Street or Barrie Street. Staff will be on hand throughout next week to help guide vehicles to the new access to George Street.
    • Stuart Street between Lower University Avenue and George Street will remain open to local traffic. The advancement of the excavation, however, will gradually reduce the area that is accessible via vehicle. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
    • Excavation and service tie-ins have been completed on Okill Street. The pouring of the sidewalk on the north side of Okill Street has been completed, with the south sidewalk to be completed shortly.
    • Electrical work will continue on Okill Street throughout next week, and preparation for the paving of Okill Street will also begin.
    • Restoration work (sod and soil placement) is nearly complete on George Street.
