Principal’s report

In addition to his written report and schedule highlights, Principal Daniel Woolf provided the following update:

  • The principal issued a statement in response to a report in the Toronto Star about sexual assault on Canadian university and college campuses. He has directed the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Working Group to expedite its work in making recommendations to enhance programs and initiatives related to sexual assault.
  • Dec. 6 marked the 25th anniversary of the shootings at Monteal’s l'École Polytechnique. The principal published a blog post with his reflections on the tragedy.
  • The university has received a petition from a student group, Queen’s Backing Action on Climate Change, calling for the university to divest its non-pension investments from companies engaged in fossil fuel extraction and distribution. An advisory committee will be struck to review the issue, in accordance with the Board-approved statement on responsible investing.
