UPDATE: Fire alarm system upgrade in Dupuis Hall

UPDATE>>>

Technicians from Siemens Building Technologies report that they will be ready to test the main fire alarm panel in Dupuis Hall this afternoon (Monday, April 29) between 12 pm and 1 pm. During this period, audible bells and visual strobes will be activated to verify operation. Each testing instance will last less than a minute. In the event that the audible bells and visual strobes activate for longer than a minute, building occupants should begin an evacuation – Do Not Use Elevator.

Note: This verification will cause an audible beeping from the fire alarm panels in Beamish-Munro Hall, Goodwin Hall and Walter Light Hall.

On Tuesday, April 30 between 7 am and 8 am, the same technicians will be reviewing the programming/sequencing of the fire alarm panels in Dupuis Hall, Beamish-Munro Hall, Goodwin Hall and Walter Light Hall as all four buildings are linked together. During this exercise, audible bells and visual strobes will be activated in each building. Each testing instance will last less than a minute. In the event that the audible bells and visual strobes activate for longer than a minute, occupants in the affected building(s) should begin an evacuation – Do Not Use Elevator(s).

Technicians from Siemens Building Technologies are scheduled to begin upgrading the fire alarm system in Dupuis Hall on Monday, April 29 and will be working daily through Thursday, May 2.

Campus Security and Emergency Services has been engaged to assist with a fire watch while work is in progress each day between the hours of 7:30 am and 5 pm. If a fire should occur during the fire watch period, air horns will be sounded repeatedly to alert building occupants of a fire and to signal that they should begin an evacuation – Do Not Use Elevator.

At the end of each day, audible bells and visual strobes will be activated as a test exercise. Each testing instance will last less than a minute. In the event that the audible bells and visual strobes activate for longer than a minute, building occupants should begin an evacuation – Do Not Use Elevator.
