Carolyn DeLoyde, PhD Candidate (MPL'92) and Dr. Warren Mabee (Professor, Geography and Planning, Associate Dean and Director, School of Policy Studies) have written a piece about public participation and planning during the time of COVID-19 for the Canadian Science Policy Centre. In their piece they discuss how the introduction of physical distancing directives in mid-March 2020 means that a critical tool in the public planners’ toolbox - public consultation - is unavailable for the foreseeable future. Drawing from Carolyn's PhD work, they discuss the potential impacts of remote consultation on stakeholder responses.
