Carolyn DeLoyde and Warren Mabee - Public Participation, Planning and COVID-19

Carolyn DeLoyde, PhD Candidate (MPL'92) and Dr. Warren Mabee (Professor, Geography and Planning, Associate Dean and Director, School of Policy Studies) have written a piece about public participation and planning during the time of COVID-19 for the Canadian Science Policy Centre. In their piece they discuss how the introduction of physical distancing directives in mid-March 2020 means that a critical tool in the public planners’ toolbox - public consultation - is unavailable for the foreseeable future.

Carolyn DeLoyde (Ph.D. Candidate) competes in Three Minute Thesis Competition this Wednesday, May 13, 2020

To All Members of the Department:

Our own Carolyn DeLoyde (Supervisor Dr. Warren Mabee) will be competing in the first Heat (there are 2) of the Three Minute Thesis Competition. Heat 1 takes place THIS Wednesday (May 13th  - see full details and the link to Heat 1 below). The title of Carolyn’s presentation is : The Nexus of Nature: Quantifying Ecosystems to Enhance Natural Heritage System Planning.

Dr. Audrey Kobayashi named a 'Distinguished University Professor'

Congratulations to Dr. Audrey Kobayashi on recently being designated as a ‘Distinguished University Professor’ by Principal Patrick Deane! The Distinguished University Professor program recognizes and celebrates those individuals holding full-time academic appointments at Queen’s with the rank of professor, who are deemed exceptional by virtue of the pre-eminence of their contributions to research in a particular field of knowledge to the point where their accomplishments are internationally recognized.
