Working in the Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering During the COVID-19 Crisis

*ACCESS UPDATE: Previously approved research activity may resume, but no additional activity / people will be permitted at this time. All field research that requires travel outside of the KFL&A region is paused until further notice. How to Obtain On-Campus Access for Research, Teaching Preparation or Extenuating Circumstances:

i) Please review GSGE's Return to Campus Plan 

ii) Please submit a Request to Resume On-Campus Activities Form to Paul Bass (Departmental Manager) at and standby for approval and further instruction. 

iii) Complete GSGE's Waiver and Acknowledgement of Information once before accessing the facilities. 

iv) Complete Queen's SeQure COVID-19 Self-Assessment - must be completed daily before accessing the facilities. 

v) Fill out the Miller Hall and Bruce Wing Contact Tracing Information - daily when you leave the facilities.

Training Required Before Accessing the Facilities Regularly: 

1) All workers and supervisors must complete Health and Safety Awareness Training

2) All employees, be they Students, Faculty or Staff, who have an employment contract with the University, are required to complete the following online courses:  

3) The Occupational Health and Safety Act requires that all employees, or supervisors of employees, who work with or who are in proximity of chemicals receive WHMIS training.

4) New Students, Faculty and Staff who wish to access laboratories in Miller Hall and Bruce Wing must complete the Lab Orientation Checklist for GSGE. Please contact our Safety Officer, Agatha Dobosz (, with any questions or concerns.
