Burkina Faso Research Meeting

Drs. Genevieve Dumas, Tim Bryant, Qingguo Li are hosting two visitors from Burkina Faso between Aug. 15-19, 2022.

The visitors are: Drs. Amidou Sawadogo and Brigitte Nana from the Institut des Sciences du Sport et du Développement Humain, Université Joseph Ki-Zerbo Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Dr. Amidou Sawadogo’s research interests are in biomechanics, ergonomics of movement, physical exercise and sport. Dr. Brigitte Nana’s research is in psychology of sport. The visitation is part of collaboration on ergonomics analysis and injury prevention of women weavers in Burkina Faso. Queen’s team has partnered with them in developing outdoor exercise equipment and training program. The exercise equipment has been installed in Ouagadougou, which is being used by weavers. During their visit, an MOU between Queen’s and Joseph Ki-Zerbo University will be signed to broaden bilateral institutional collaboration. Office of Vice-Principal (International) is arranging the signing ceremony. As an important part of the visit, we are arranging meeting with researchers in areas of ergonomics, biomechanics, rehabilitation, sport science, global health and engineering. These meetings will allow for in depth discussion and lead to future collaboration in research as well as undergraduate and graduate education.

A research seminar and meeting are scheduled on Aug. 16, 1:30PM at Center for Health Innovation. (Human Mobility Research Centre) (76 Stuart St, Kingston).
