The UHKF Women’s Giving Circle (WGC) is a group of women who come together to support ground-breaking medical research at Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Providence Care. Since allocating their first grants in 2013, the WGC has raised almost $380,000 for research projects in Kingston. These grants fund a diverse range of areas, including the detection of cancers in aging adults, the control of salmonella infections, and individually tailored treatments to fight depression.
This year’s grant of $35,500 will support the important work of Dr. Christopher Doiron, Dr. Tiziana Cotechini, and Dr. Amber Simpson, collaborators in the study of the immunologic and inflammatory causes of interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome – also known as IC/BPS that predominantly effects women.
