About

Helena is a first year M.A. candidate.  Her research interests include Canadian social history, the history of race and ethnicity, and diaspora studies.  Under the supervision of Professor Karen Dubinsky, she hopes to interrogate and compare the experiences and interactions of different diaspora groups in 19th Century Canada.  She is especially interested in the histories of Irish immigrant communities and Afro-descended peoples.
