19th century British History

B.A. (Honours with distinction), Queen’s University, 2019

I recently completed my undergraduate degree at Queen’s University, where I majored in History and minored in Art History. While at Queen’s, I became fascinated with 19th century British History. For a project conducted in my second year of study, I studied the lifestyle and culture of the Victorian English working class through examining drinking houses and alcohol consumption. This essay received the Catherine Brown Essay Prize in History at Queen’s and helped spark my passion for 19th century British History. Therefore, for my graduate research, I will be studying Victorian history, and more specifically, the social history of the British working classes. My proposed research on the Victorian working class, which centred around national pub culture in England, was awarded both a SSHRC and Tri-Agency Recognition Award. I am conducting my research under the supervision of Dr. Sandra den Otter.
