About

I am an international student from Iceland and completed my bachelor's degree in history at the University of Iceland in 2019. My research interests particularly revolve around the contemporary military and political history of Western Europe and North America. In my bachelor thesis I researched Iceland's position regarding the NATO military intervention in the Libyan civil war in 2011. There I explored how Iceland, a country with no military, became an active participant in the Libyan civil war as a NATO member, and how that lead to severe tension in Iceland's coalition government at the time. In my master's studies at Queen's University, I will continue my studies on military history, and under the supervision of Professor Allan English, thoroughly explore Canada's role in the Allied occupation of Iceland during World War Two. A topic that has never been explored, I am excited to see what the research will yield.

In my spare time I enjoy hiking, travelling, camping, playing guitar, and watching football.
