I received a bachelor degree in Chinese literature and linguistics from Tongji University, China, and a master degree in social research and cultural studies from National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan. Before my study at Queen’s, I worked for a social work office in Shanghai for a period of time. Currently, under the supervision of Professor Emily Hill, I intend to focus my research interest on China’s political and economic transition from communism in the post-Mao era, with a particular emphasis on the politics of class in the transition period. As is tentatively envisaged, the research, also a follow-up study to my master dissertation that revisits the history of China’s Cultural Revolution, aims to explore the narrations of class discourses as well as the reconstruction of China’s working class over that period.
