Michel S. Beaulieu

Michel S. Beaulieu is Chair and Professor of History at Lakehead University.

Since completing his Ph.D. under the supervision of Ian McKay, he has published 3 monographs, 7 edited collections, and over 20 chapters and articles. These include Pulp Friction: Communities and the Forest Industry in a Global Perspective, Labour at the Lakehead: Ethnicity, Socialism, and Politics, 1900-35, Labouring Finns: Transnational Politics in Canada, Finland, and the United States, and North of Superior: An Illustrated History of Northwestern Ontario.

Michel has been the PI or CI on 8 SSHRC grants and an AUCC/IDRC Canada-Latin American and Caribbean Research Exchange Grant since graduation. He is currently undertaking research on the history of resources and sustainable development in the circumpolar north as part of the Resources and Sustainable Development in the Arctic (ReSDA) research network.  In 2011 he was awarded the City of Thunder Bay's Heritage Award for his promotion of regional history and community activity.
