About

I completed my Bachelor of Arts (History) at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. My major research passion is the politics and material culture, and particularly food, of the Byzantine Empire. My Master's research investigated the prevalence of emperors from marginal socioeconomic backgrounds in Byzantium, which was awarded both a SSHRC and a Tri-Agency Recognition Award. However, my Ph.D research, tentatively titled Foodways in Byzantium, will examine food culture in the Middle Byzantine Empire. My research is being conducted under the supervision of Dr. Richard Greenfield.
